Prototype

 SMtraining

Today I finally started creating my game. I have to say, this was way harder than it looks. I have made the basic layout and scale of my map. I found it extremely difficult to figure out the right scale for my game.

I had to play around with different scales constantly to find the right size. Finally, I found the right scale after a few hours of playing around. I have used two different assets to create my walls and floor.

The links to the two assets will be found here:

Yughues Free Concrete Material

High Quality Bricks % Walls

I have used the Standard Assests to create my first person player for my game. I haven't added any guns yet. I will continue with my game next week.

Next week I will be adding in the gun for the player and I will add more items to my map. This is an image of what I done so far.

Slowly but surly everything will be done and the game will be fully playable.

Thank you for stopping by.

See you next week,

Denis.

  1. Hey Denis, Just after reading your blog right here and I seeing you already found it difficult form the begin of creating your prototype which is sad sorry. But at least you found two assets that helped you in your creation. Hopefully you don't come across more trouble when you start adding the guns and other items. But things are looking good so far Good Luck.

  2. Hi Denis, this is a really good start to your game I know you said you found it difficult but for the first prototype this is a really good start. You said you will be adding a gun for the player and other items next week, what other items will you be adding? If you are adding enemies or targets I would suggest to start adding them before anything else because they are probably the most difficult so it would be nice to get that done. I look forward to seen this game when its complete, all the best with completing this!

  3. Hi Denis, me again! I thought the same thing about my game didn't realise it would be so hard and tedious! You think by doing all the tutorials and research it would come easier! But I'm glad you got it started and love where you said "Slowly but surly everything will be done and the game will be fully playable. " because it's so true, it'll take time but it'll be so worth it when it's done! :) Best of luck with the game!! -Megan

  4. Hi Denis, wow the prototype looks great so far, I really like the overall design. I had the same problem to begin with, game design can be very challenge to be honest, but once you get going there's something satisfying about seeing everything come together. It looks like you have the hardest parts already finished with, which is good to see, and also having some level designed out helps you to get the mechanics down and working. Well done, it looks great!

Reading 09

Hi all. This week we have focused on fixing our papers. This was challenging as I find it hard write academically. I am glad to get the chance to improve my writing. For this week I have rewritten my introduction and conclusion as I believe they weren't good. I also fixed up my paragraphs where I found mistakes.  I am pretty happy with how it is at this moment and I am happy to continue on with my weekly tasks after Easter break. I hope everyone will enjoy this break as we all need it. Thank you, Denis.

Technology

Good evening. I'm back! This week I found out about some tools we will be using throughout  this semester. So far I can say I'm really excited to create graphics using canvas, cheezburger and so on. I can't wait to figure out which of those will work the best with my workflow.  I think trying out Wordpress will be good. I like the idea of trying out different tools as you never know which works best for you until you try it out!  There's a picture of the first dinner I had in Crete. I hope your craving pizza now! Because I am... See you next week! Or later on today.. Bye, Denis.

Unity Tutorial 06

Today I have done another tutorial and a challenge.  Screenshot of the Unity Tutorial Doing this tutorial and challenge I have learn to add sound effects and music in the game. I found that really cool as the game did feel slightly dull without it. This tutorial was fairly easy so I wasn't struggling. The challenge on the other hand was what I expected. A challenge that was nerve wrecking at times.  I never thought of adding music to my game and now that I have done it. It really made me think of the different genres I could be choosing from. I need to start looking at gun shot sound effects too. The challenge game was pretty fun too. It reminds me of flappy bird in some way.  Overall I'm really glad I got to do this tutorial as it made me realise of one part of creating my game I have not thought of until this point. Thank you all again for stopping by.  See you later, Denis.
