 Continue of creating my game...

This week I decided to work more on the map, give the player a gun and start working on the script for the shooting and design my target. This week I found it difficult to find out a script for shooting and working fast. As I'm still learning I'm not the fastest at making games. I find it really hard to get this done in a shorter period of time. I have spend way too much time on little things for example.

Original screenshot of my map.

As you see I have added a door, a wall on top of the door and boxes. The materials I have used are from this page that is linked from the tutorial I said I will used in a previous post. The link to the website is here. It seems like an easy job to do but it took longer than you think to finish all of this.

The door was easy to make but it took a little time to place it right.

The gun I have used is from this asset I have found in a tutorial I have previously mentioned in a blog post. The gun was easy to place and the script work fine so far.

This is how to target will look in my game. I decided to go with those colours as I want players to recognise the target quick. I made the "head" a different colour and made it smaller as I want the target to die in one shot to the head.

Next week I want to script the target death by shooting it, make an animation for the gun and randomise the target placement as you play.
Thats it for this week.
Thank you,
Denis.

  1. Hey Denis!! Wow, your game looks great and seems like it would be extremely difficult, even just adding a gun shooting to the game would be a big pain for anyone and I'd just assume it would have taken a long time to add those small things, but all those small things add up and make the game more enjoyable to play, and when those small annoying elements are finished the game will start coming together and then hopefully the work will feel worth it. I think taking assets from the unity tutorials is a great idea, it saves time searching the internet for assets to add to your game, not knowing if their compatible with the other assets you have, for my game I took assets from all different unity tutorials we had to do weekly. Good luck with the game!!!

  2. Hey Denis Really enjoyed reading your blog post about your game. Jesus Christ bro your games looking well you definitely didn’t make it an easy choice for yourself I would have a clue how to go about coding a game like yours so props to you my guy. Just wondering how you’re planning on coding bullets for your game and what will the player achieve in the game by shooting the target? Anyways bro looking forward to see the full thing best of luck with it.

  3. Hi Denis, I find your game really interesting and this is my first time reading your blog about your game. You breakdown the content of your blog really well and it is easy to understand as well. I also think that designing the enemy in bright color is an excellent idea as you said, player will be able to find their enemy quicker before it attack them. Using easy codes is also practical as we are only beginners. I'm wondering if is there going to a time limit to complete the game or there is a limit to their lifeline?

Good luck in completing your game for our last week this semester!

Introduction To Someone

Welcome back! So today I will introduce myself. Talk about things I like doing and things I don't. Well, I'm 20 years young, my nationality is Irish but I have Romanian parent. I never know what to answer when people ask me where I'm from as I have an accent, so I just say "I'm a foreign Irish person". I'm a big fan of sports (NOT FOOTBALL). My favourite sports at this moment are boxing, golf, surfing and the gym. I've done boxing for 5 years but stopped as I wanted to gain size and boxing had way too much cardio in it. So I joined the gym and I'm addicted to the gym. I train 6 days a week and my weekly gym plan is Push, Pull, Leg day and repeat. During my Push days I train chest, triceps and shoulders as to train those muscles you do exercises that involve a push motion. For Pull day I train my back, biceps and forearm as those muscles involve a pull motion to train them. And, leg day is just legs (LEAST FAVOURITE DAY IN THE GYM). The rest of the...

Reading 09

Hi all. This week we have focused on fixing our papers. This was challenging as I find it hard write academically. I am glad to get the chance to improve my writing. For this week I have rewritten my introduction and conclusion as I believe they weren't good. I also fixed up my paragraphs where I found mistakes.  I am pretty happy with how it is at this moment and I am happy to continue on with my weekly tasks after Easter break. I hope everyone will enjoy this break as we all need it. Thank you, Denis.

Technology

Good evening. I'm back! This week I found out about some tools we will be using throughout  this semester. So far I can say I'm really excited to create graphics using canvas, cheezburger and so on. I can't wait to figure out which of those will work the best with my workflow.  I think trying out Wordpress will be good. I like the idea of trying out different tools as you never know which works best for you until you try it out!  There's a picture of the first dinner I had in Crete. I hope your craving pizza now! Because I am... See you next week! Or later on today.. Bye, Denis.
