Feedback Strategies

Good morning! I hope you all are having a great day.

Today I have read two articles about giving feedback. Here's what I found out!

The first article is called "The Difference Between Praise and Feedback". The reason I chose this article is because the title stood out to me. Reading this article I found a few things about feedback that I didn't know. I learned that saying "Good Job" or phrases along this line are not great ways to give feedback to your child. The better way to do it is by "process praise". Also asking questions and listening to what they have to say make a huge difference in their progress. Doing those things will increase the chance of your child to take on risks and challenges. This is a very interesting article and I suggest you guy's read it.

The second article is called "How to Give Bad Feedback Without Being a Jerk". The reason I chose this article is a mixture between the title and the image used under the title. The title is very unformed which caught my attention and the image is of one of my favourite shows!

This is an original screenshot of the article.

This article focuses on how to give effective feedback without making them "feel attacked". Grant stated that using the "compliment sandwich" technique isn't the most efficient way of giving feedback. The compliment sandwich is basically starting and ending off with a positive comment and saying the negative points in between. This technique is used to easy out the negative comments on others. What Grant talks about is starting your feedback session with sentences such as "I'm giving you these comments because I have very high expectations and I know you can reach them.". This increases their interest and eases out the negative comments in an efficient way. Grant give real life situations using those techniques that helped companies.

Overall those articles were helpful in understanding ways to give more efficient feedback. I hope you guys learned a thing or two from my reading!

Thank you for listening and, as always I will see you soon,

Denis.

Reading 09

Hi all. This week we have focused on fixing our papers. This was challenging as I find it hard write academically. I am glad to get the chance to improve my writing. For this week I have rewritten my introduction and conclusion as I believe they weren't good. I also fixed up my paragraphs where I found mistakes.  I am pretty happy with how it is at this moment and I am happy to continue on with my weekly tasks after Easter break. I hope everyone will enjoy this break as we all need it. Thank you, Denis.

Technology

Good evening. I'm back! This week I found out about some tools we will be using throughout  this semester. So far I can say I'm really excited to create graphics using canvas, cheezburger and so on. I can't wait to figure out which of those will work the best with my workflow.  I think trying out Wordpress will be good. I like the idea of trying out different tools as you never know which works best for you until you try it out!  There's a picture of the first dinner I had in Crete. I hope your craving pizza now! Because I am... See you next week! Or later on today.. Bye, Denis.

Unity Tutorial 06

Today I have done another tutorial and a challenge.  Screenshot of the Unity Tutorial Doing this tutorial and challenge I have learn to add sound effects and music in the game. I found that really cool as the game did feel slightly dull without it. This tutorial was fairly easy so I wasn't struggling. The challenge on the other hand was what I expected. A challenge that was nerve wrecking at times.  I never thought of adding music to my game and now that I have done it. It really made me think of the different genres I could be choosing from. I need to start looking at gun shot sound effects too. The challenge game was pretty fun too. It reminds me of flappy bird in some way.  Overall I'm really glad I got to do this tutorial as it made me realise of one part of creating my game I have not thought of until this point. Thank you all again for stopping by.  See you later, Denis.
